PEDRO'S -USA

Bud with Pedro
flag compass
For any East Coast American motorist who has traveled along a substantial length of Interstate Route 95, Pedro's signs advertising 'South of the Border' are a familiar sight. These billboards stretch from Maine to Florida, urging the driver and family to stop at the North Carolina/South Carolina border location. As the border approaches, the signs become ever larger, more frequent and complex. The puns are truly painful. Ten miles out, a billboard with an enormous 3D pink hot dog states, "You never SAUSAGE a place! You're always a WEINER at Pedro's!"
Established in 1949 as a beer stand, Pedro's is now the classic tourist trap, designed to separate weary travelers from their money. Fireworks, tee shirts, trinkets, gewgaws, knickknacks, curios, novelties, souvenirs, a miniature golf course, a sombrero tower, a 300-room motel complete with honeymoon suites, a campground with 100 sites, five restaurants, three gas stations and more are available. Bud got a rubber snake.
