YUKON TERRITORY- CANADA
During winter it gets really cold in the Yukon. The average temperature range in January is about 0° to -20° F (-20° to -30° C). Summer isn't too bad, though, as you can see from the picture. In August, when we were there, it was around 60° F (15° C). We saw a moose and lots of beaver dams.
In the Klondike region, gold was discovered at a place called Rabbit Creek in the 1890's, starting a gold rush. As many as 30,000 hopeful prospectors came from all over to try their luck. The atomic number of gold is 79 and its symbol is Au (from the Latin aurum). Bud looked around but couldn't find any.
