BOOK DRIVES :
A letter of intent shall be written and combined with a Scholastic book order form (forms and letter examples will
be provided).
These shall be distributed through school. Best results have been met when teachers and / or a school group is supporting and
working together with you.
Other viable ideas include:
- Setting up tables in visible areas
- Organizing a contest for winning homeroom or class
- Revolving around some school wide event
- Involving a sports team / sorority / fraternity / college group

READING REQUIREMENTS for 2007 :
Volunteers will be asked to:
- Read a range of five to ten childrens' books in Spanish. Exact number will depend on individual language abilities
- Read for understanding and to be able to talk about the book
- Formulate questions and possible answers
- Prepare for discussions, with intent to bring children to deeper levels of enjoyment while engaging in read alouds
- Brainstorm and list project ideas for each book, with at least 3 ideas to be developed
- Create material list so items can be purchased beforehand

BOOK SUPPLY :
- Books are available at local bookstores, Barnes and Nobles, Borders, Amazon, via Scholastic "LEER" Book Orders, or may
be borrowed from the supply from RLP (Sue's house)
- We ask that all volunteers read the first two books on the list
- Other books will be choices of each individual
