Jujitsu is the hand-to-hand fighting
art of the Samurai in Japan. It is a complete martial art, including strikes and kicks, throws and takedowns,
arm and hand techniques such as armbars and wristlocks, ground techniques (wrestling), and submission techniques.
The instruction at Kaiwan Budokai is grounded in Japanese jujitsu
and incorporates elements of judo and aikido, both of which were developed from jujitsu. We teach the
full range of techniques and put them to work in randori, or free sparring. The students, both men and
women, range in age from late teens to fifties. Over the years, the dojo has developed a family atmosphere. We
work hard but maintain an environment of friendship and respect.
