Course Objectives: Focus on precision and practice in basic techniques. The Fall
II 2009 term reviews the techniques of the previous term – hand and arm techniques, ground techniques, striking and
kicking, and standing throws -- and covers the remaining categories – foot and leg techniques, sacrifice throws, and
self-defense. The course outline describes the core activities of each class. Other activities are added as time allows.

Class 1
|
Review hand and arm techniques: Waki gatame, kote gaeshi.
Review ground techniques: Guard, back mount, naked
choke. |

Class 2
|
Review hand and arm techniques: Ude garame, elbow takedown.
Review ground techniques: Pins (kesa gatame) and submissions
(juji gatame, triangle choke).
Basic technique checklist.

Class 3
|
Review striking:
Jab, hook, cross, straight punch, upper cut.
Review standing throws: Kubi nage, o soto gari, seoi
nage. |

Class 4
|
Review kicking: Front, roundhouse, side.
Review standing throws: Tai otoshi, o soto gari.
Basic technique checklist.

Foot and leg techniques: De ashi harai, o uchi gari,
ko uchi gari. Combinations. |

Foot and leg techniques: Review previous class.
Ko soto gari, ko soto gake. Combinations, counters. |

Sasae tsurikomi ashi, hiza guruma. Combinations, counters.

Tani otoshi, yoko otoshi, uki waza.
