EXAKT Technologies, Inc. announces the introduction
of the EXAKT 80E, a computer-controlled, bench-top 3-Roll Mill. Ideal for the
product development lab or for small production runs, this mill combines two modes of operation and a self-calibrating feature
to deliver the ultimate control in product production.
The operator has an option of two (2) modes
of operation. “Gap” mode, allows the user to select a constant gap
between the rollers (in microns). In “Force” mode, the mill maintains a pre-set force or pressure (line pressure
in N/mm) between the rollers as defined by the user. The mill can be operated using either mode of operation in either gap. It allows for the simultaneous operation of one gap in one mode and the second gap
in the other mode as well as the ability to change modes during operation. An automatic calibration system resets the gaps
to a predefined position to ensure repeatable performance.
The mill comes with a digital display for the operator’s
panel showing the operating parameters during use. The operating software
is capable of storing up to 99 operating programs of process data for future use. The EXAKT 80E also has many new safety features
including a “cleaning mode” and can be supplied with chrome-plated hardened steel, solid aluminum oxide, solid
zirconium oxide, or solid silicon carbide rollers.
EXAKT 50 - The EXAKT 50 is the workhorse in any product development
lab. Its compact size and compact price make it ideal for dispersing small amounts of pigment or chemicals in inks, pastes,
thick films, cosmetics, pharmaceutical products and many more applications.
EXAKT 80 - A larger and more substantial
machine than the EXAKT 50, the EXAKT 80 provides greater production capacity. The larger diameter rollers also provide more
shear force during processing. And, since more force can generate more heat in the product, the EXAKT 80 is available with
an internal heating/cooling system for the rollers.
EXAKT "S" series - The "S" Series
3-Roll Mills are feature rich and provide performance that meets or exceeds that of much larger production models.
The unique tensioning system of the "S" Series minimizes the free play in the roller ball bearings
insuring a more constant gap and ultimately a finer, more uniform particle size in the product. And the gap is easily set
with a single hand wheel for parallel roller adjustment to 3-5 microns at its closest setting.
EXAKT "H/HF" series - Like the
"S" Series, the "H/HF" Series is designed for more than just the standard products. When particle size, consistency and wetness
are a problem due to the viscous or sticky nature of the product, the "H/HF" Series can dramatically improve results. Or,
if greater capacity is needed for less troublesome materials, the H/HF can provide the same high production quality in bigger
batches.
The "H/HF" models come with the same roller tensioning
system for maintaining a constant gap as in the "S" Series models. And, all of the same roller and scraper blade materials
are available.
EXAKT’s other 3-Roll Mills have a single motor that drives the rollers in a predetermined
speed ratio. The "H/HF" models have two frequency inverters controlling two separate drive motors so that the speed
ratios can be independently set between rollers. So for a particularly thick, sticky product the speed ratio, and therefore
the friction, between the rollers can be increased to deliver more shearing force as the agglomerates/particles pass between
the rollers.
