I've always been fascinated by Vikings. Fifteen years ago I went to a medieval demonstration at a place called Cooper's Lake Campground in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania and saw people wearing armor beating the snot out of each other with rattan swords. All I could think was... "I GOTTA DO THIS!!!"

Little did I know this hobby would consume so much of my life. I enjoyed meeting new people and fighting in armored combat. I indulged in great feasts and fought. I was in tournaments and fought. I went out into the woods and fought, in one-on-one combat I fought, in melees I fought, in great battles I fought, over barricades I fought. I enjoyed the company of lovely Ladies and fought for their honor.

...I think you get the picture.

I've learned to fence, to drum, to appreciate a beautiful song, to become entranced in a great story...and how to perforate with a spear, slash with a sword, while defending myself with shield, hack with a glave, cleave with a Great sword, mince with a sword in each hand (a style called 'Florentine' in heavy weapons combat and 'Case' in fencing...think "medieval food processor") and shoot with bow and arrows.

Not only that, but you also get to do something that today's world would never offer...to fight for a Lady's honor in armored combat in a tournament. Don't ever let anyone kid you. The fighting is great, but the ladies make it special.

My persona is that of a 9th century Viking pirate/raider. My name is Beornwulf the Belligerent. I have a lot of fun with this persona. He is a BERSERKER who charges into the fray of battle swinging his weapon. This is pretty much my true personality anyway. But, where else can you charge into a group of armored fighters screaming and swinging a weapon? It's great stress relief.  80)

I've been fortunate enough to have three songs written about me. I've framed them into more or less period looking images. BTW...my nickname is Bubba.... Each of these songs also contain a short comment by the author and information about the author:

Viking Warrior - this humorous song was written by a talented friend of mine after I did a BERSERKER charge during a huge field battle at an event called Pennsic (and YES this story is TRUE, it REALLY happened!)

Ode to Bubba (I Think I'm Gonna Die) - written by a friend of mine just after she had started fighting. The first time she sang it to me, I couldn't stop laughing. She's a HOOT!

Demon of the Northern Shore - There are two images of this one. This second one is in Runes. This song was written by another friend of mine. This song is best when sung by him. I get chills up and down my spine when I hear this song. The author of this song knows how to write a song about a Viking!
