GREETINGS!
Welcome to the Trent’s Company web site. Trent’s
Regiment was founded in August of 1982 and portrays the life
of William Trent’s Virginia Militia which served as
a provincial unit under the British during the French and
Indian War (circa 1754). Its members, who primarily reside
in Western Pennsylvania, share a common passion for history
and are happy to share this passion with others who show an
interest in that clash of empires that was the prelude to
the Revolutionary War.
Visiting historical sites and seeing rebuilt historical buildings
and ramparts gives you a glimpse of the history that occurred
around them, but to truly experience the history requires
a living presence. The sound of officers giving orders, the
explosive volleys and the smell of smoke from musket fire,
seeing the armies skirmish before your very eyes. To be able
to pick up a Brown Bess musket. To know just how heavy and
awkward the weapon truly was (especially with the bayonet
affixed to it) and to also realize that this was the weapon
that helped forge an empire. These things are an experience
for both re-enactor and spectator alike.
Trent’s Company puts on demonstrations, displays and
battle/skirmish re-enactments. We are a diverse group with
members having a variety of technical and trade backgrounds.
The common threads running through the group are the love
of history, the friendship and the love of having fun.
