My 05 Road Glide "95 In The Bag"

Welcome graphic

Well this is what I have wanted for as long as I can remember, a Sportster.  Well I got one, 2003 XL 1200 Custom Vivid Black.

Well I got this bike in late September of 2002.  I paid a lot of "Tax" out the door as the Dealer needed me to invest in $1500.00 worth of extras to order the bike for me.  I had Thunderheaders, Forcewinder, a piss poor carb adjustment, braided brake lines, Windvest, Sissybar, Saddlebag Supports, Smoked lens kit, Headlight Bezel, Short Rail BackRest.  I did this much as I was getting 10% and my salesman was pretty cool.

Well I had numerous problems with the original Forcewinder set up.  They had some nasty rubber boot breather system on it, blowing the oil back into my carb.  If you look at the rest of my journey you will see what that has helped cause.  I never felt that the old spring cut, and shim the needle with a washer is a good solution for carb adjustment, but know it has been done for years.

My bike spit oil all over it's self and gagged at WOT.  I finally got rid of the rubber oil overflow into my Forcewinder, and put a tank on top of the carb that screws into the head breathers, collects the oil, and if it needs to puke, it does it out a hose to the ground, at the rear of the frame.

To overcome the carb work I had www.dakotakidcarbs.com do my carb.  It is a piece of art.  Takes your stock 38.5 mm (the one they call a 40mm) and bores and polishes it to a 44.5 mm carb that just is plug and play.  It works!

So with it breathing, and pouring fuel, and getting rid of it through the Thunderheaders.  My Tax is all but paid.

Well Then I say I need N2 cams.  Ok No problem, no big deal even for a first time wrench.  This is my story from there on out.......................
