With the exception of the Portrait Study the drawings are unfinished. The Florentine Cast is the initial placelment of the
white chalk and the Winged Victory is about midway done. These drawings were started with a simple linear placement in red
chalk. Once that was secured white chalk was used to place the light mass. In these drawings, the effect of the chiaroscuro
is primarily achieved by the white chalk.
