Harvard Fall Festival 2006

Each year I take part in a number of arts and crafts fairs throughout the region. At each event I set up a portable Blacksmith Shop complete with coal fired forge , anvil, and other tools needed to work hot iron for the public to see and enjoy.
I also bring along a varitey of pieces of my work for sale. Items may be purchased there or I take orders for custom work. Custom orders require a non refundable deposit.

Work done on site

The smell of a coal fire, the ring of the anvil, the "hiss" of hot iron as it is quenched in water. Soon people gather to watch as I forge hot iron with hammer and anvil. From time to time throughout the day I will hand out a piece fresh from the forge for the onlookers to handle and admire. Often I will make a gift of a piece to the ones who have stayed the longest to watch . A rose to a pretty lady , a simple leaf to a child .......the look on their faces is all the reward I want.
If you have old blacksmithing tools stored away in a barn or shed somewhere that may have been left to you by someone from your family and you would be willing to donate or sell , speak to me about it. I am always looking for more old blacksmith tools to add to my shop . It is a sin to let fine old tools sit idle and not fullfill their intended purpose.
It breaks my heart to see an old forge used as a planter ,or an anvil being set aside as a garden ornament.
