Arrivederci Roma

Rome in five days...

I only had five days for my Roman holiday.  After a (very) long flight from Newark Liberty Airport via Alitalia Airways, I landed at Leonardo da Vinci Airport (Fiumicino) outside of Rome.

I traveled by van to my hotel, the Domus Sessoriana.  However, there was a problem with my room and I was transferred for one night to another hotel near the Porta San Paolo.

The guidebooks all inform us we should stay up and look jet lag in the face.  I on the other hand decided to lie down and avoid the confrontation.  I took a four-hour nap and then decided to tour the city.  The only problem was that the Italian unions had called a one-day general strike and all public transportation in the city was shut down.  So I just walked around the Porta San Paolo area.
