Domb Lighting opened in 1949 on South Street in Morristown. Harry Domb opened the doors of the business along with
his father Mark Domb. Their business consisted of lighting fixtures, bulbs and replacement glass. One
part-time employee helped run stock.
In 1956, Harry and Mark decided to move the business to Elm Street in Morristown. The Elm Street location was
expanded to include a full line of electrical supplies. The staff expanded to include a full supply counter to
help the electrical contractors.
In 1965, Domb Lighting moved to its current location on Ridgedale Avenue. With this expansion the staff
doubled to its current size of 18-21 employees. This expansion saw the entrance of the third generation of Dombs into
the business.
In 1975, Domb Lighting expanded to its current size. An 8,000 square foot addition was added to the original
building to allow additional space for the supply counter and supplies warehouse.
In 1987, the fourth and most current generation of Dombs joined the business. The family oriented environment hasn't
changed since the days the doors opened on South Street. Thanks to a loyal customer base, unique product and a curtious
and knowledgable staff, Domb Lighting will soon be entering its seventh decade in business and with your continued support
hopefully many, many more.
