The Westford Studio of Ballet Arts' goal is to provide high quality ballet and dance education, while nurturing the love of ballet. By keeping classes small, each student is given more personalized attention. Miss Alison believes in making class a fun and rewarding experience for each of her students.

Westford Studio of Ballet Arts,
A Personalized Approach

The Westford Studio of Ballet Arts was established to provide high quality ballet instruction with a more personal, intimate approach than larger dance schools that primarily focus on grooming professional dancers. At the Westford Studio of Ballet Arts, emphasis is placed on all dancers, even those without professional aspirations. Additionally, at the Westford Studio of Ballet Arts, more time is spent on learning dance than other schools that may focus half a year on learning recital pieces.

Class sizes are kept small, typically around eight students, to achieve a more hands-on, personalized approach. As part of this intimate approach, at the beginning of each semester, the school will attempt to create a schedule that works best for each student. Also, there are no registration fees.

The Westford Studio of Ballet Arts does not believe in lavish recitals and spending half a year on one dance piece at the expense of additional dance learning. Instead, the school spends an additional three months on ballet instruction. The school offers an intimate performing experience at the end of the year (Ballet I and above). These in-house "demonstrations" are free to the parents. Costumes are often borrowed from the studio to minimize student costs. Demonstrations have been very well received by the parents, since rather than sitting through a three hour recital, parents watch their child for 30 minutes. Additionally, some years the school performs at nursing homes.

One of the main ingredients in building a strong dancer is technique. Ballet is the chosen form of dance that builds correct technique, which can later be transferred to any dance form. A dancer without ballet training is similar to a house without a foundation. It’s a must for any student starting in dance.

“I was always cast in musicals over others because of my strong ballet background.”

“If you could teach beginner ballet class for teens, that would be great. We can’t find a strong ballet school that offers this locally.”
Westford Studio of Ballet Arts current student (prior quote)

Ballet classes are offered at all levels for children, teens, and adults. Even if you’ve never taken ballet, it’s never too late to start. If there’s an interest, there’s a class.

While the emphasis of the school is ballet, there has been a strong interest in musical comedy jazz and acting. When these classes are offered, they will incorporate ballet technique as well.
