Now let's look at some areas where the career prospects are relatively less strong. Again, indicate
whether your personal interest in these areas is high or low.
AREAS WITH RELATIVELY WEAK JOB PROSPECTS
MAJOR AREA
LEVEL OF PERSONAL INTEREST
Archaeology
Art
English
History
Journalism
Music
Philosophy
Political Science
Sociology
If your level of interest is HIGH in any of these areas, you have a HOBBY:
A subject that you enjoy but, unfortunately, is not terribly marketable. Nothing wrong with doing something you enjoy, even
if it makes your job search a little more difficult. But you may want to find something in the "winner" or "backup" category
to minor or double major in, and be prepared to slug it out for a job in this field if you pick one of these as your primary
area of focus.
Anything marked LOW on this list is a LOSER: Your interest level isn't high
and the job market isn't very strong. Forget about them. There must be something in one of the other three categories for
you to consider.
