East Newark Municipal Welfare Department/Human Services
The East Newark Municipal Welfare Department/Human Services provides social services assistance to the residents
of the Borough. The Department interacts with the East Newark Senior Affairs Department in the area of services to the
senior residents of the community.
The following services are included within the Department:
Social Services Referrals and direct follow up with the following federal,
state, county and local agencies:
Hudson County Welfare Division, Hudson County Office On Aging, Social Security
Administration, New Jersey Department of Human Services, New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, New Jersey Department
of Community Affairs-Housing Assistance Office, New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services, Public Service Electric
and Gas (for home energy issues), Salvation Army, Hudson County Visiting Homemaker Services, Hudson Prenatal Consortium, Hudson
County Transcend Transportation Program.
The following social services are rendered to the Borough through the appropriate agencies:
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Food Stamp, Home Energy Assistance,
Rental Assistance, Medicaid/New Jersey Care, Pharmaceutical Assistance For The Aged and Disabled, Supplemental Security Income
(SSI), Social Security Disability and Survivors Benefits, Referrals for Mammography (at no charge for eligible residents),
Dental Assistance for the Aged, Nursing Home Medicaid Assistance, Vocation Rehabilitation, Child Welfare Services, Senior
Services-Information and Referral, Medical Transportation.
