This thesis was about the nature of the uncanny and how it
relates to contemporary views on architecture. It was a finalist for the 1999 Penn Thesis Prize, and was displayed at
both the FAARM Gallery and the Kroiz Gallery at the Penn Architectural Archives.
It is a weather station in the middle of tornado alley. The building anticipates
its own destruction. The subterreanean weather station is located near
a gash in the earth cut by a previous tornado. Above the weather station, there is a jogging path, speaking
to the notion of a threatening apocalypse lingering beneath everyday routine.
This thesis predated 9/11/2001 by two years.
