PLAYSTATION 3

After waiting for months for a photo, details and other info on The Playstation 3, it's finally here.

Heres the specs:

It will support Blu-ray (obviously), DVD±R/W, CD-R/RW

Backwards compatible with the PlayStation 2 and original Playstation

One 3.2GHz Cell processor—total system performance rated at 2.18 teraflops (uh, that’s actually about twice what Microsoft is claiming the Xbox 360 will do); it will have 256MB system RAM 3.2GHz, and 256MB GDDR VRAM at 700MHz

The nVidia graphics will be called the RSX (”Reality Synthesizer”), and will trump the Xbox 360 with 1080p ) graphics support.

There will be a 2.5-inch hard drive (i.e. laptop hard drive) attachment—a first for a Sony launch (no, we don’t count the PSX and/or the FF add-on)

Memory Stick Duo slot, and very surprisingly, an SD and CF slots

Bluetooth support with up to seven wireless controllers

Six USB system ports

The bottom line, this system will kick all the other systems asses!

Still no word on a price for the PS3.

Heres some pics of the new Playstation 3

The Playstation 3 will come in multi colors to suit your taste

This is the PS3 wireless controller
and yeah it does look like a boomerang
or the moon, take your pick.

This is it folks the new Playstation 3 and to most of you even me its going to take time to get used to the design and a big concern to me is, will the paint come out of the silver controllers while you play with it for long hours?
most likely which means I'll get the black version.

By the looks of the PS3 it didn't excite me like the XBOX 360 or the Nintendo Revolution.
Sony should had made a better design for this mammoth of a system cause to me it looks like a  CD player or a Turbografx 16 Duo from the early 90's and that controller needs a redesign, hopefully the 3rd party companies will make a better looking controller.
oh well, at lease the powerful hardware will make up for it, lets see how the games do, cause no matter what power a system has it all depends on the software to sell it, now all we have to do is wait, damn.

NINTENDO REVOLUTION

Sounds like something out of a Wachowski Bros Movie but in fact its the name of Nintendo's next generation game console.

For what I saw it looks like a space helmet from a Star Wars Movie with a detachable visor to see the games all around you if you don't wanna see it on your TV and it has 4 earphones to give you surround sound.
The system looks like a round ipod (again with this ipod color design just like XBOX 360) looks like this is the new trend in game console design, lets see how the PS3 looks like, its a weird looking system.
Here are some specs of the Nintendo Revolution.

Rumors abound indicated that Nintendo could separately be working on two systems and that ultimately one would be chosen for retail. System 1 allegedly featured a 2.7GHz PowerPC G5 processor, 512MBs of RAM, and a 600MHz graphics chip. System 2 allegedly featured dual 1.8GHz PowerPC G5 processors. 256MBS of DDR Main Memory RAM, 128MBS of GDDR3 Video RAM and a 500MHz graphics chip. Both systems allegedly featured a built in 15GB hard drive. As of this time, these rumors cannot be validated.

More recent hearsay from development studios working closely with Nintendo suggest that Revolution's power is on track to compete with Microsoft's forthcoming successor to Xbox. Some studios have suggested that Revolution could be slightly underpowered when stacked side by side with Microsoft's next system, but that the differences would be marginal. Other sources maintain that the recently reported Xenon hardware specs exactly mimicked internal hardware documentation for Revolution. Again, none of this information can yet be validated.

In March 2005, both IBM and ATI confirmed that they have been making the CPU and GPU for Revolution respectively.

This is another rumor of the final spec

CPU: IBM G5 Custom x 4 2.5GHz cores, level 1 cache 128KB, a level 2 cache 512KB share
GPU: RN520 x 2core 16MB eDRAM, PC R520 AMR technology supports 720p and 1080i.

The full specs will be revealed when Nintendo debuts the new system at E3 2005 for now I will show you an exclusive video of  Nintendo Revolution.

The Revolution Controller?!

This has got to be The worst thing ever!

The next generation in game consoles is here!
MTV has shown a special show debuting the awesome new console that will be available this Fall and packed with awesome new stuff.

After a long wait for gamers, Microsoft unveiled details about its next-generation gaming console, the Xbox 360, to millions of fans on the MTV network Thursday night.

This time the tech behemoth will overtake its greatest rival Sony and the PlayStation console, as it will bring the Xbox to retail store shelves in the United States, Japan, and Europe at the beginning of the holiday season this year.

Sony has not yet announced particular details about the PlayStation 3 and its launch date, but analysts expect it to be out by the beginning of 2006.

The new console, which is more like a media center, has a 20-GB hard drive, a DVD-ROM, three USB 2.0 ports, and two memory unit slots. The sleek-looking machine, which can be placed horizontally or vertically, is white in color as opposed to it’s the black Xbox 2.

Microsoft used two design firms, San Francisco’s Astro Studios and Osaka, Japan’s Hers Experimental Design, to come up with the new stylish look reminiscent of Apple’s iPod.

For the new console, Microsoft replaced chip giant Intel and graphic chip maker Nvidia with three IBM microprocessors and a custom ATI graphics processor, which are expected to deliver powerful computing and advanced graphics.

The entertainment system-like console has a built-in progressive scan DVD movie, CD music and photo playback support. And the integration of the Xbox Live gaming system will let players interact with other players around the world while watching movies or listening to music.

With the Xbox 360, gamers will get a free subscription to the Xbox Live online game entertainment system, which currently comes for a monthly fee.

In keeping up with the high-definition era, every Xbox 360 game will be designed for high-definition televisions (HDTVs) and wide-screen televisions. In addition, it will also stream HDTV and movies stored on Microsoft Media Center PCs.

It is still not certain how many launch titles Microsoft plans to have for Xbox 360, which will play a key role in driving sales.

It will become clearer which company will stand out in the $10-billion video gaming market next week at the gaming industry’s annual convention, E3 expo, in Los Angeles. Sony and Nintendo, both competitors to the new Xbox, will talk more about their next-generation consoles.

The Sony PlayStation 3 will be powered by the “cell” microprocessor, which can handle complex digital media and graphics.

Sony has also indicated that the PS3 will have capabilities to run the next generation of DVDs called Blu-Ray, which use blue ray laser technology instead of the red laser implemented today. Blu-Ray has higher storage capacity and supports high-definition televisions.

Microsoft has confirmed a price for the Xbox 360, $299.99 for The wired controller model and $399.99 for The wireless model. The Xbox currently sells for $149.99. It is also not clear if the new console will be backward compatible, meaning can play games made for the older console.
