Frequently Asked Questions about our Cottage

Q. Is the cottage in a private isolated area?

A. The location is pleasantly rural, but it does have other cottages and residences nearby. There is plenty of room for your use of the lake but you may see other swimmers or boaters while you are enjoying the water. 

Q. Does the cottage have clean running water and a full bathroom?

A. The water for the entire cottage comes from a new (2005) Vermont State certified deep drilled well.  The cottage has a new bathroom, including a vanity and shower (no tub).

Q. What are the swimming areas like?

A. The lake is very clean with a sandy bottom. The cottage has a private sandy beach with a gradual walk-out into the lake.  A public beach and boat access is available.

Q. Where do I get a State of Vermont fishing license?

A. You can save vacation time by purchasing a license ahead of time on line, at the Vermont Fish and Game Department site. The link for this is http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/licenses.cfm .

Q. Is the heating system sufficient to heat the cottage if it gets chilly?

A. The cottage is equipped with heat, including a  gas fired stove in the living area.  

Q. Are laundry facilities included?

A. Washer and dryer are not provided.  Clean bath towels are provided.  Laundry services are located in nearby towns.

Q. Is there a private telephone?

A. Yes.  Local telephone service is provided. Long distance calls will be the responsibility of the guest. A telephone recording machine is provided.

Q. Will my cell phone work from the the cottage is located?

A. Unfortunately, cell phone reception in the vicinity of the cottage and the general area is intermittent at best. You don't have to drive far to reach areas with better reception, but be sure to give the cottage phone number to anybody who might need to reach you in an emergency.  Internet service is not provided.  The cottage telephone is provided just prior to rental.

Q. Is there TV and Internet?

A. The cottage has basic local stations (2).  If you like movies, the cottage is equipped with a DVD player and a numerious movies for all generations. There are nearby DVD-rental stores. 

Q. Are there restaurants nearby?

A. The town of Concord has the Mooselook Restaurant - offering Family Dining.  Excellent dining is available within a 20 mile radius of the cottage. 

Q. Is there shopping nearby?

A. For guests at the cottage, basic provisions can be obtained from well stocked local merchants (food, gas, beverages, ice, hunting / fishing supplies, etc).  Larger shopping areas are available within a 20-30 mile radius.

Q. Emergency Services / Hospital / Police Services?

A. For emergency services, dial 911.  Three hospitals are located within the 20-30 mile radius, including emergency treatment.  Law enforcement is provided by the Vermont State Police, County Sheriff Department, and Town Constable.
