I created this memorial as a special place on the web to remember Eric Longacre, a loved one lost due to a Motorcycle accident. Eric's web page allows friends and family a unique way to pay their respects by posting their own thoughts or memories of our loved one. I felt this would be an incredible way to create a lasting memorial and tribute to Eric’s life  This site will allow an opportunity for future generations to read, see, and learn about how Eric lived, how important Eric was to we his family, to his friends, and to the community. Biography of Eric S. Longacre
(1971-2006)


Eric Stephen Longacre

Medical device Model Maker

Eric S. Longacre, 34, of Pottstown, died of causes related to a motorcycle accident.

Mr. Eric Longacre was born in Phoenixville, PA to John P. Longacre Sr., and Cindy L. (Seeley, Longacre) Christman, wife of Robert L. Christman.

 

Mr. Longacre was a 1989 graduate of the Northern Chester County Vocational Technical School and a 1997 graduate of the Reading Police Academy, where he graduated with top honors. He was most recently employed at Globus Medical, of Audubon, where he worked as a Model Maker, developing spine surgeon’s fusion and non-fusion solutions that were used to promote healing in patients with spinal disorders.

 

In 2004 Eric worked for Johnson Matthey. In 2000 he worked for JL Machine and Tool, Pottstown, Pa as a machine programmer and setup technician. In 1998 he worked for Q-Machining, Stowe, PA with similar responsibilities. In 1997 he worked for Miracle Machine and Tool, Pottstown, PA as EDM and Grinding machine operator. In 1996 he worked for Sager Machine, Harleysville, PA as set up and operator of milling machines. In 1995 he worked for Imperial Specialty, Pottstown, PA as screw machine operator. In 1992 he worked for Transmission Specialty, Paoli, PA as CNC operator. In1990 he worked for Royersford Foundry and Machine as a CNC operator. 

 

Eric enjoyed his classmates at the Northern Chester County Vocational Technical School. Eric was very popular and received accolades from his peers. When asked “What is the thing I will remember about Tech?”, Eric responded with, Mr. Lange singing “Little White Duck”. Mr. Lange, Mr. Matty and Miss Adkins were Eric’s favorite teachers. I quote just one of Eric’s classmates although they all seemed to call him "Dude". “Eric, Yo!  It’s over!? It’s been a long year Dude. Who knows, maybe someday we’ll drink a bottle (ha, ha). Stay cool and keep in touch. Charlie”. Accordingly, I found all students who knew Eric to like him very much and wanted to stay in touch and party with him after graduation. 

 

Eric was very much into the 9th amendment. ”The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people”. Eric spoke with Mr. Matty about it often while in school. Personally, I know Eric always expressed his concerns to me, and to others, about the loss of us citizen’s rights to the government (less control of our own desires).

 

 Eric thought his life call was to be a Police Officer so he entered the Reading Police Academy. Eric worked hard and gained knowledge and interpersonal skills. Eric graduated with top honors having a 97 percent efficiency rating. While in the Academy, Eric developed a close relationship with Barry Templin, presently Chief of Gilbertsville PA. Police, and remained very close friends throughout life. Eric it seems was not cut out to be a policeman he soon professed. After all the training and hard work Eric soon found out he could not stop speeders and give them a ticket. Eric said” I can’t give them a ticket for something I also do”! So! he then gave up his desires as a policeman and found his roots elsewhere as a machinist!

 

Eric was an avid motorcyclist, who loved riding with his friends and family. Eric’s finest days were riding his bike with his friends.  Mike Perry, Rose Guinther, Barry Templin, Steve Lewis, Dave Walsh, Greg Losh, and Jason Cooly are Eric’s close friends. Many, many hours were spent traveling together primarily in Pennsylvania. He did not travel with the group to Florida for the motorcycle roundup due to his work commitments. Eric also rode with his cousins and brother locally just to experience the thrill of the open air and the bugs and rain crashing onto their helmets. His and their love for motorcycles was exhilarating to them all.

 

Eric enjoyed activities such as snowboarding, mountain biking, wake board­ing, computers and electronics. He loved life, family and friends. Eric would join his relatives, Robert (Andy) and Joy Longacre, Don, Ed, Mike, Helen (Baetzel) Shoap and others, visiting the Pocono’s and Blue Marsh for water activities and picnics. Eric would also spend countless hours on the computer designing projects and playing computer games with Mike Perry and Jeff Longacre, often sleep was secondary, as they would pull an all night game-playing extravaganza.

I love you my son but I understand the difficulty you had coping. I would gladly trade places with you so that I could allow your love of family, your free spirit, your craftiness and your quick wit to continue to be shared with so many you have touched and loved. I can not replace you, but I can remember your love for me, and your loving concerns for my well being. Your concern for me far outnumbered the concerns you had for your own life. Be at peace my son knowing that I love you. Until later, I will love you always and you will always be in my thoughts. Dad

A son I was proud of, who had a huge heart, was loyal, protective and sensitive. Eric was a free spirit, passionate about the things he loved, and extremely gifted.

 

I miss hearing your voice, seeing your face and feeling your touch. I am so sad that you left me, the ache in my heart is all encompassing. I love you and I miss you every day and will for the rest of my life.   Mom"

Eric, a Brother and a friend, one who will always live on in my heart and mind. Eric’s spirits were exciting, his thoughts intriguing, and his kindness true. A man I could count on, who never judged me, who always had kind words or silly joking around to keep me up when my spirits were getting down. Eric, a Brother that knew the true meaning of family, bar-none. Eric always showed his love and caring ways towards his Father, Brothers, Cousins, Aunts, Uncle and friends. Eric was always there and would make any sacrifice for any of us no matter the situation. As a friend, we all know Eric was true at heart and saw his friends as family he chooses. He made us smile, laugh, love, cringe, and sometimes cry. We all loved to be in the company of Eric, even if he was butting heads with us, for he was always himself and never pretended to be anything else. He always stayed true to his personality, for that was one of his greatest qualities. I will surely miss my Brother, but I know in my heart that someday we will be once again together. There will be laughing, joking, riding and anything else that kept two Brothers close. Jeff

Eric, my best friend – You were there on my first day of Kindergarten to help my mommy get me ready.  You helped me to learn to ride my four wheeler, my first bicycle and a skateboard.  You let me sit on your gixxer and showed me how to look cool on it.  I will never forget all the memories…all the games you let me see and play on the computer…all the Xbox games you taught me to play so well…the trip to the lake where we became even closer…  You are my best friend Eric and forever will be.  I love you Eric.  Justin
 
Eric, my everything – I miss you so much.  I will never forget all that you have done for J and I…all the fun and exciting trips we went on…all the memories I will hold forever in my heart.  We were so much alike sometimes that was a good thing and other times it drove us apart… I’m glad we got the chance to find our way back to each other and become the close friends we were meant to be.  So many things will always keep you alive in my heart.  Until we see each other again, I love you.  Rose.

Eric: In many ways you were like a brother than a close friend. I can not remember a time where you were not there at one of my family functions. It would be nothing to have my mother ask, “Where’s Eric?” That meant so much to me. You were a brother, a friend, a teacher, a counselor (many times), the best man at my wedding and godfather to my first born, Andrew. Andrew, Aaron and Grace all called you Uncle Eric. That meant so much to me as well as it did to them. There was always a spot at our dinner table for you and man could you eat. It was nothing to hear Rita say,” Is Eric staying for dinner?” That meant so much to me. You went through so many of the progressions in my life. There were a lot of roads in life that I probably would not have traveled on if it was not for you. There was so much more... and now it is gone. I understand. Believe me, I do. You will always be a part of my family. I will truly miss you, my brother. I love you. Barry

It was a distinct privilege for me to have known you and been part of your life, as brief as it was. There was something special about you and it was evident as soon as you started working for Globus. Your determination to always go beyond the call of duty to complete a project, and solve any problem with creative solutions are some of the qualities that embody this great land of ours and its place in history. My most cherished discussions with you were on the meaning of life, our creator, and his unlimited love toward us and all mankind. We miss you a lot in Globus. I know we will meet again.  David Paul

Thank you Globus for all you have done for Eric in his employment and for his self esteem. We remember when Eric first visited Globus. Eric excitedly talked to us about the company. He was so excited and kept repeating, “I got to work there” over and over. Eric was thrilled to think that he personally could have the opportunity to work with/in a company that has the working conditions, and the personnel that would make him feel that he has finally achieved his roll in society. We thank Globus, and all his co-workers, for making Eric’s life meaningful and enjoyable, and for allowing him to achieve his goals. Family and Friends
