"Standing in our Whirlwinds"

Advent Silent Retreat

"The great French mystics Madame Guyon and Archbishop Fenelon advocate the direct experience of God known in the holy Quiet.  In this Advent retreat we will worship using the multi-faceted richness of Quiet.  We will meditate on the different aspects of Quiet as known in the ecstasy of beauty, sublime selflessness, dancing with the divine, and the revealed wisdom of the heavenly presence.  We will also look at the spirituality of God dwelling within our relationships with others.  In silence we seek the Presence that frees us to find God deep within our hearts. In the Quiet we stand within our often surprising whirlwinds of joy, courage, and peace."

Warehousing Humans in the Nation's Capital
The DC Jail is extremely overcrowded, so the DC Council passed a law to remedy this situation. But Mayor Anthony Williams has failed to comply with the law, says Priest Associate Nancy James of St. John's Episcopal Church, Lafayette Square, which sits across the street from the White House.  View an interview with Nancy James on coffeehousetv.org:
