The A B C’s of Salvation
Written by Pastor Terry Fenton
One of the first things that children learn when they start school is their ABC’s. Learning the alphabet is fundamental
for everything else they are going to learn in life.
God never intended for His plan of salvation to be hard to understand or difficult. The ABC’s of salvation are
essential for eternal life.
A – Acknowledge. Every one of us must acknowledge the fact that
we are SINNERS. Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
We must also acknowledge the fact that man is LOST without God. Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which
was lost. Mark 8:36
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Also, we must
REPENT of our sin. Luke 13:3,5 I tell you, Nay:
but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name
among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where
to repent. D. L. Moody liked to describe repentance this way: “Man is born with his back toward God.
When he truly repents, he turns right around and faces God. Repentance is a change of mind, a change of heart, and it results
in a change of action.” Someone cannot be saved unless they know they are lost and they repent of their
sin.
B – Believe. We must believe that Jesus Christ came to this world
to save us. John 3:16 For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life. Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying,
and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son
hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 11:25-26 Jesus said
unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever
liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
C – Call. Many people acknowledge the fact that they are sinners.
Many people believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died on an old rugged cross, was buried,
and rose after three days and nights. But few CALL upon the Lord Jesus Christ to save them. Romans
10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name
of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Salvation is as easy as A-B-C. If you would
like to be saved right now, pray this simple prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I realize that I am a sinner and lost. I repent of
my sin. I believe you died and shed your blood for me on the cross. I believe you rose again from the dead. I ask you to save
me right now. In Jesus name, amen.
1 John 5:13 These things have I written
unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on
the name of the Son of God.
The Bible teaches that once we are
saved, we need to be baptized and become part of a Bible believing church. Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and
the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
