“BE THANKFUL UNTO HIM”

PSALM 100

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, we need to reflect and be thankful.

Thanksgiving is more than turkey, family, friends, hunting, football, shopping, etc.

Thanksgiving was a proclamation given to give thanks to the great Creator.

What are we thankful for?

I.                 THE SAVIOR.

A.    The Savior is born.

1.                  Luke 1:47  And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

2.                  Luke 2:11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

3.                  Titus 3:4-7

B.     You must believe and trust Him for your salvation.

1.                  Luke 19:10  For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

2.                  Romans 5:6  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

3.                  Hebrews 7:25  Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

II.            SALVATION

A.    There is nothing:

1.                  Grander

B.     It is our only hope of eternal life.

1.                  Acts 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

C.     How do you plan on getting to heaven?

III.        SECURITY. ETERNAL LIFE ASSURANCE.

A.    You cannot lose it.

E.     Your in God’s hands according to John 10:28

IV.         SCRIPTURES

A.    We find out how to be saved from the Scriptures.

B.     We learn the security of the believe.

C.     God can communicate to us.

D.    The Scriptures can keep us from getting into trouble.

E.     The Bible tells us everything God wants for us to know.

F.      They tell us who we are, what we are doing here, and where we are going from here.

1.                  2 Timothy 3:15-17  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2.                  Romans 15:4  For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

3.                  2 Peter 1:19-21  We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

V.             SERVANTS

A.    Our ministry would be handicapped without servants.

B.     A servant according to Webster – one in a state of subjection, one that makes painful sacrifices in compliance with the weakness or wants of others.

VI.         STRENGTH

A.    My own strength is too weak.

1.                  Philippians 4:13  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

2.                  Ephesians 6:10  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

3.                  Ephesians 3:16  That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

VII.    SECOND COMING

A.    Something grand to look forward to.

1.                  Titus 2:13  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

2.                  Philippians 3:20-21  For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:  Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

3.                  2 Peter 3:12-14  Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?  Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
