SEPTEMBER IS MISSIONS MONTH
FAITH PROMISE GIVING DESCRIBED
It
is a PROMISE not a pledge. A pledge is a binding commitment between an individual and his church. A PROMISE is between YOU
and GOD, not your church. No one will come to collect it from you, and no one will bill you for it. Also, it is an offering
not part of your tithe.
FAITH:
The Bible defines faith as “The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of
things not seen.” Heb. 11.1. We are also told in Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that
he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Also we are told to “Walk
by faith, not by sight” 2 Cor. 5.7.
PROMISE:
A promise is a commitment. This is made to God, relying on Him to supply the amount that He has laid upon our hearts to give.

Corinthians 10:15-16 “…when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged
by you according to our rule abundantly, To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you,…”
HOW SOME PEOPLE GIVE
MATHEMATICALLY: They figure how much they can afford to give and then give.
(No faith required)
EMOTIONALLY: When stirred by a missionary message or presentation they give.
They will not give until they are stirred again. (No faith required)
DELINQUENTLY: They do not practice any form of regular giving. (No faith required)
FAITH GIVING: They understand that God is pleased by “Faith giving”.
The amount they give is determined by God and His burden upon their heart. (Faith required).
Where are you in the above descriptions?
2 Corinthians 9:7 “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart,
so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”
MARRIED COUPLES CONFERENCE
The 2008 Married Couples Conference is November 7th and 8th.
It will be at the Holiday Inn Grand Island Hotel. The cost is $195.00. There is a $25.00 non-refundable registration due October
7th. The theme this year is “Rise up, my love,…and come away, Song of Solomon 2:10.
We
highly recommend this for ALL married couples regardless of how long you have been married. It would be great for many of
us to go together from our church. It is a wonderful time of fellowship.
ADDICTIONS PROGRAM
Reformers Unanimous meets every Friday night at 7:00 pm. R/U is a Faith-based addictions program that
addresses issues relating to the fundamental need of behavior modification. If you know of anyone that would benefit from
this program, give them an R/U brochure and invite them to attend the meeting Friday night. We also have a “TEEN PROGRAM”
that teaches and challenges the young people to live for Jesus Christ.
