And a great sign appeared in the heavens:
a woman clothed with the sun,
and the moon under her feet,
and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.

If I Wept
If I wept
with the child’s lament;
like droplets of moisture
seeping through a stone wall.
If I wept
with this gift of tears;
like spring rain
falling through an open window.
If I wept,
running my fingers
over their hearts;
like scintillating blue waves
gently washing over warm stones,
round as the midnight moon,
at ocean’s edge.
Would you be there
to save the falling tears
in vials of healing water.
And with this balm, bless their souls

the lines were uneven,
not through any message
from the gods of fate.
It was just
that the sun shone through
from the seam between the stones
to the lower levels
of the unlit dungeon.
and as I looked down,
the rays rested ragged
on the floor at my feet.
Thomas
Merton, John Steinbeck, Sebastiano Perlino, Wes Montgomery, Padre Pio, Martin Luther King Jr., Robert F. Kennedy, and Helen
Keller were all "called back" in 1968. Jeff Crock took me to a psychedelic light show where two musicians played and introduced
me to ragtime.

maddening, it was, the blaze blest blue. perhaps the contradiction: precise and arbitrary; to be one the spiral the ring the loop the beat of a body. crawling, yet waiting; for the refuge, for the advent. and always, there is the reach in space, (not the schism of a cloud, nor the wrent in our soul) for our guitar. it is imminent, it is our fate, it is the mills of the gods. and we laugh, "maddening!"

All compositions by Vin Mitchell, BMI
These recordings were made in the late 80's, early 90's, at the Lawrence Academy Basement
Studio; engineered by students under the direction of their instructor and my friend, Peter Hazzard.
Some of the musicians were;
Ginny Fordham, Jeff Williams, Matt Brown, Alan Hall, Bruce Nifong,
Pat Loomis, Steve Adams, Mark Snyder, Larry Finn,
and others, whose names, I am sorry to say, I have since forgotten.
It's a bit raw, as my leadership, writing, and playing may have been, yet there is an
energy here.
