Esquire Deposition Services challenged Delaware Supreme Court Administrative Directive 132 (Amended) in Federal Court. This order established the Delaware Certified Shorthand
Reporter. The order also included anti-contracting language and specified stenographic method.
Background: The Board on Certified Court Reporters was attempting to enforce the anti-contracting rules against Esquire,
an administrative law type procedure at the state level. In addition to defending themselves, Esquire challenged the
Constitutionality of the order itself.
On Tuesday, May 12th, 20009, while a deposition was underway in the BOCR v Esquire action, word came down that the
Delaware Supreme Court has rescinded AD 132, mooting both the state and federal actions.
