BOATING and GOVERNMENT

Our advocacy organization was established to insure our next generation of boaters has a better recreational boating resource
to enjoy the outdoors environment. The Boater Voter Coalition is dedicated to improving conditions for the Recreational Boater to operate safely moreover, take pleasure from their boating experience.

MAKE POLITICS PART OF THE PROCESS.....Involve Your Elected Officials

The Coalition Stakeholders of our Boating future vary but can include:

  • Boating Clubs - Sportsmen -Fish and wildlife groups
  • Landowners - Regional historic preservation groups
  • Area Businesses -Recreation specialists
  • Park "friends" groups
  • Hiking, bicycle, trail and park users
  • Civic Groups -Youth sports advocates
  • Environmental advocates -Watershed Organizations
  • School Groups - Sports clubs
  •  Newspaper or journal reporters
  •  "Smart Growth" leaders
  • Urban renewal advocates - Municipal leaders
  • Government Agencies - Elected officials

Hundreds of million dollars are collected from boaters by way of registrations, sales tax, titles and fuel tax. The funds are funneled everywhere but back to the boating infrasturcture. In New Jersey, this revenue is sent to the General Fund - None of the Money is used to sustain recreational boating conditions in THE STATE - A STATE NEARLY SURRROUNDED BY WATER.

New Jersey fails to provide free access for the boater to reach land or water. The State encroaches on Boating Clubs rights to waterfront access.  No other recreational activity or transportation suffers such an encumbrance. All surrounding states of New Jersey provide free access facilities and have dedicated funds for recreational boating improvements in their annual budget.

This money is revenue generated by boaters.
New Jersey needs a Constitutional Amendment to provide Funding  for the future of recreational boating in this state admistered through a single Recreational Boating Commission.
