Edward M. Greene

Web of Trust Notary

General Overview (for non-Thawte members):

Thawte is proud to introduce the Freemail Web of Trust , a unique platform for community certification that leverages concepts pioneered by PGP and moulds them for the first time into an X.509 PKI.
The Web of Trust is a unique, community-driven certification system based on face-to-face ID validation on a peer-to-peer basis. It's a "bottom-up" CA, compared to traditional "top-down" CA systems. You can be notarized, and then you in turn can act as a notary and certify the identity of your friends!

I can assign 35 trust points.  Your name can be embedded into your certificates after 50 points, and you can become a notary after 100 points.

  • Location:

To notarize you I can meet in New York City in Manhattan. The upper Westside (near the Museum of Natural History) any other location is on a case by case basis

Notary fair:

At least two notaries will try to meet at least once a month. Two notaries will be at the Starbucks on Broadway & 81st St. every first Friday of the month from around 6:00PM to 6:30PM.
Each of us can assign up to 35 points.  Together it is enough to get your name in the certificate.
Please drop me a line if you are coming.  More notaries may show up and are welcome.

  • My policy:

The Thawte Web of Trust Rules specify at least two pieces of identification where at least one is a photo ID and one that proves the ownership of your Thawte ID number (i.e. the original social security card if the SSN is what you used for your Thawte ID).

For the photo ID, I will accept a  Driver License / Non driver ID card or a Passport.  At least two(2) photocopies of your ID. (to be given to each notary)

You must be pre registered on the thawte site

Everything else is on a case by case basis.

  • Contact:
I will communicate only by e-mail, because of the increasing volume of spam please digitly sign your email

. Please email me the day before the meeting since I will only show up if someone is attending!!!
When contacting, please include your Thawte ID number (this is for me to print the statement of notarization), the type of identification documents you will use, and the time and place you prefer to meet.
