R-16K
The APPS inc. Model R-16K Electronic Tablet Counter is a unique tablet counting
machine, capable of accurately and efficiently filling bottles with a predetermined number of tablets or capsules.
The machine consists of a hopper, and two independent feed tray systems
each with eight individual counting lanes or channels. Two bottles are filled simultaneously.
The bottles are supplied to the machine on a dual lane conveyor, with the left side of the machine feeding the front
row of bottles and the right side feeding the rear. Tablets to be packaged are loaded into the bulk tablet hopper from where
they are released at a controlled rate onto a horizontal vibrating tray. This
tray has a flat profile, and features a perforated area for removing dust and small chips with the aid of a vacuum source.
From this tray, the product falls onto an inclined vibrating tray, where product singulation is achieved. This tray has machined steps with increasing angle to increase the velocity of the product and to upset
any stacked product. Finally, the counted tablets pass down a chute into
the bottle being filled.
When the correct tablet count in the bottle is achieved, pneumatically operated
gates, located in the tablet chutes, are closed, stopping the flow of tablets into the bottle. After a delay to allow any
remaining tablets to enter the bottle, the full bottle is released, and an empty bottle moves into the fill position. A photoelectric sensor detects the presence of the empty bottle, and opens the tablet
gates, permitting pre-counted product that has accumulated on the gates to drop into the empty bottle.
