Penguins Rock The PTHL
Offer RFA Sheet to Detroit’s Staal

Running the risk of pissing off other GMs, Pittsburgh’s general manager decided he needed one great defensive forward to really put his plan into action. Sources have confirmed that the Penguins have signed Detroit restricted free agent Jordan Staal toa contract for $3.5 million annually for 3 years. Staal accepted the offer, and it was not matched by Detroit. Compensation going to the Red Wings will be 3 first round draft picks.

“We feel that Staal is the missing piece” said GM Andy. “He’s consistent, he’s good in the offensive zone, and he’s great on defense. He’ll allow us to roll four lines that are responsible on both sides of the puck. And he’s only 21 years old.”

This move will also allow the Pens to make other changes. Rumors are swirling that there is an imminent trade that will bring in a veteran forward to play with Staal on a shutdown line. No word yet on what will go the other way in this rumored deal.
