Middle Eastern Dance or Bellydance
has been a part of Middle Eastern and North African culture for centuries. Its origin is heavily debated, but many believe this
ancient dance form began in Egypt thousands of years ago.
In the Middle East and northern
parts of Africa, bellydance has been practiced primarily among women and is a treasured part of weddings and diverse
celebrations. Historically, many of the movements like sways and undulations were used in child-birth
preparation as medicinal resources were not as advanced as they are today.
Bellydance is widespread
throughout the world. As a result, many countries such as Lebanon, Syria, Greece, Turkey, and America have
adopted much of the basic Egyptian form, re-styling it as their own.
Middle Eastern dance is a
wonderful form of physical fitness, as it improves posture and balance and tones and strengthens the entire body. Isolations,
layering, and controlled movements are the core technique of the dance. However, this sensual art form
is also riveted with grace and fluidity, signifying the majestic nature and mesmerizing character of the dance.
Bellydance is a fun, exciting
way to celebrate life. It’s a main staple for any joyful occasion
that calls for celebration! Over the centuries, this
exotic dance has sprinkled its mysterious sensuality across many cultures and countries and as it evolves and transcends
