This Conn Trombone was made in 1914, and is gold plated. It has both high and low pitch tuning slides, an
"S" small bore (small even for a cornet!), and a 6 1/4" bell. This model eventually became the 3H and the "Wurlitzer
Special".
The trombone is also etched "W. Vaules Grier / MHS / '14" on the underside of the bell. Thus it seems likely that
this was presented to William Vaules Grier of Milford, Delaware (who was born in 1897) upon high school graduation.
The Vaules-Grier house, in Milford, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Pennsylvania Society of
Sons of the Revolution listed William Vaules Grier as a member and this horn was found in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
