I have recently learned that the 24mm 2.8 and the 135mm 3.5 MDs are two of Minolta's stellar optics.
I certainly didn't know that twenty years ago: I had beginner's luck.
A hint: with Minolta glass from the SRT and XD period, I always have obtained the best color images
on Kodachrome 64 and Ektachrome 64. In monochrome, I have mostly used Tri-X; but I never feel it is the exactly right
emulsion. Close, but not quite. The search continues.
I want to add several shots that were taken recently. You can better see the color performance of
the Rokkors. The first three were taken using the 24mm MD Rokkor 2.8 on Fuji Superia Reala 100. The second
of the trio shows the outstanding close-up performance of this lens--afforded by a floating-element design.
The subject is yet another Minolta MD optic: the unusual 85mm Varisoft. This lens lets you dial in the amount
of spherical aberration you want: you can dial from a modern sharp look to the romantic rendition of early lenses.
And stages in between.
