My name is Lori. I am a hobby breeder. I have 4 children and 8 Chihuahuas:Chi-chi, a long coat chocolate
female ; Neeku,a smooth coat cream & white male : Cloe, a fawn smooth coat female: Molly, a smooth coat
white with black spots female: Little Bit a long coat male-white with fawn markings on his face : Lilly a long coat
tri color female: Bella a smooth coat fawn female: And Chesney, a red fawn long coat female. Our chihuahuas
live in our home as part of our family. We live in New England where one day it can be really warm and the next very cold.
so when weather permitts our chi's have a safe fenced in area in which to go out and play.
Chihuahuas make wonderful pets in part because they are almost childlike in thier dependance upon their human families,
and because they bond so deeply with them. Don't get a Chihuahua on a trial basis. If you tire of your dog and think
it won't be bothered when you cast it aside, think again. After you have used up its irresistibley cute puppy months,
there will be few people lining up to offer it a new home.
Chihuahuas are loving companions, warming your lap and shadowing your steps, providing love on lonely days and security
on lonely nights. But remember, there will also be soiled floors, midnight walks in the rain, and trips to the veterinarian.
There is the daily responsibilty of feeding, exercising, and loving your chihuahua. They are very social animals and want
to be with you most of the time when you are at home. Dont get me wrong though, they will do fine being left home while you
are at work. But will be at the door to great you when you get back.
Chihuahuas are intelligent, attentive, and willing to please, a combination that makes for a very obediant companion. They
do great as watchdogs, lapdogs, and protectors. Contrary to popular belief they are not yappy dogs. They are very
loyal to their family. Also they are not one person dogs. They may prefer one family member over another, but will still be loving
and attentive to other family members. They are saucy, spunky, lively, bold, and quick witted. They make active
companions. But at the same time, they are cuddly, loving, and demonstrative, sometimes to the point of being clinging.
Don't get a Chihuahua if you don't want a constant addition to your lap.
Chihuahuas are long lived. The average life span is 12-18 years or more. They tend to be extemely healthy, but it's
easy to let some get overwieght, especially females.
