| Shawnee Peak sign with my orange backpack. |
My first Mountain was in Bridgton Maine - I wanted Maine first because I am from the Great State of Maine and it was
the Ski Maine Association led by Greg Sweetser that helped me get started on this Journey.
The first day started with long drive from my home outside of Boston but the effort was rewarded with a beautiful
view of the Pleasant Mountain across Moose Pond. I caught the early groomed and man made snow. Folks were
friendly - especially Melissa and Don - but the whole mountain seemed to have a more relaxed pace. Don (in photo) has
been a lift attendant for over 24 years. The snow guns were blasting noisily but the sky was a deep blue and there were
no lines.
It felt great to finally be off and running on a trip that was in the planning since the Spring. Yipeeee!
