| Billy from Gunstock surrounded by his motley crew Jon, Jeff, Dave and Woody! |
Sunday of my three day weekend in New Hampshire – and was time for Dave,
Jon and Jeff to join me to take in the great views of Lake Winnipesaukee, ski the varied, well-groomed terrain and hang with
Billy for a bit. Billy, a bearded, huggable hulk of a man, ran mountain operations
and had just come off his shift as we arrived at Gunstock at about 9:30 AM – thanks for waiting Billy. We chatted and learned some of the details of running a mountain operation and how to drive those cool
grooming machines they call Cats – but I did not get up enough courage to ask him to let me run one – maybe when
I come back sometime (how about it Billy?).
What a great spot to own a vacation home – all those people who have
summer places near or on Lake Winnipesaukee can use their cottages for their winter fun at Gunstock. Our view over the Lake took in almost 20 ice fishing shacks and we were able to walk out to a few but,
sorry, no one was home. Instead we fabricated a mini ice sailboat out of a plastic
sled and bed sheet – not much maneuverability but great skidding around in very strong winds.
The Gunstock and Lake
area were a ton of fun – thanks for the great runs.

| Jeff - nice job on the ski poles - rather break a pole than a leg! |
