3 Sunday River, ME

If you want diversity and lots of choices Sunday
River is the place to go. Those lifts rush you right up the mountain or should
I say mountains for it seems there are several all in one area. I arrived around
2:00 to an empty spot near the lodge and was able to get right out on the slopes. The pace had slowed down a bit near
the end of the day and so was able to visit with the cheery ticket checkers and lift attendants. One lift actually took me over a small pond – the only mountain that I know of in New England that
travels over water – a fun but somewhat eerie sensation. Even with no lines
to speak of, I only lasted a couple runs. I then had a quick visit to the Pub
to listen to a live band playing with chatty skiers huddled around small barroom tables sipping hot drinks.
I picked up a sew on patch for my vest and
left Sunday River for the short drive to a friendly motel over the line in New Hampshire, a short 12 miles away.
