| Grandfather Rick and his gang! |
Well Adam – you certainly made me feel welcome
to your ski area (the third of this weekend) – in fact, I sensed more than the professional, obligatory welcome that
one might give a New England wanderer like me, I sensed you were really dedicated to giving outdoor winter activity to all
the folks in the areas west of Boston. I sensed a real joy to making it all work
(despite the sky high insurance costs literally closing other ski areas). And
I found out just the type of folks it was all working for….
I just happened to ride
the lift with a 77 year-old gentleman named Rick – a retired electronics worker from the greater Boston area –
a man full of energy and appreciation for life i.e. he was not going to let a recent hip surgery get in the way of learning
how to ski. Rick is just one of those people that grabs a hold of life and gives
it a bear hug – always alert for enriching people and experiences he was out with his grand-daughter and her two friends
(see photo). He was also intrigued and enthusiastic about my Odyssey (maybe one
reason I like him!!) and could not wait to tell his daughter and son-in-law. See
his smile and feel his youthful spirit radiating right through your computer screen – thanks Rick for the great run
and have a blast with the rest of your life. Off now to some night skiing at
nearby Blue Hill.
