I knew I would like this mountain when I saw the hanging ski bags in the lodge (see picture) – for some reason I had not seen this anywhere else and it made perfect sense to get these bags off the floor so people could have leg room.  I am sure the design people thought it might obstruct views and look cluttered but I actually felt it made the lodge feel warm and cozy.  It got me thinking of the rich character that a ski bag can reveal – white canvas smudged brown with floor dirt and beaten soft with banging around; brown leather with long creases exposing the strong inner hide.  These silent workhorses just keep on lugging our stuff – handles straining. This lodge was more compact and lower tech – a sure plus for this New Englander.

The mountain centers around a long ridge line that extends from the base lodge to the summit – and there is great skiing off both sided of this ridge.  Some really intense moguls kept me focused on my run down the hill.  It was also fun to watch some of the ski racing on one of the slopes, drawing racers from nearly every state in the northeast.

A few runs later I was back to the lodge – the wall of canvas and leather bags – to exit my boots once more and move on to  Magic.
