Welcome graphic

Yes, I have completed my adventure to ski 50 different ski areas in New England during the Winter of 2003-04.  Oh - there were many detours along the way as I explored the rural New England countryside and met people along the way – my new motto – “life is about the detours!”

In addition to celebrating my 50th birthday, I will also be seeking to discover the true, rural New England character – is it out there and what is it like.  In fact, I will try to build a composite New England character from all the people that I meet.  To seek out these people, I have asked each ski area manager to introduce me to the ski area employee with the longest tenure and hoping they will have their picture taken with me.

I thank the Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont Ski Area Associations for the tickets and the warm welcome to each area I visited.  To those I did not visit, well another year maybe I will attempt to complete the list so I can say I skied every commercial or community area with a tow.

The trip was a great chance to get outdoors, see our great New England countryside and try to discover the true New England character.

I invite you to read through all the pages below – at the very least visit some of the detours I took along the way.  There will also be some surprises.
