The
emphasis of Marriage Encounter is on the communication between husband and wife, who spend a weekend together away from the
distractions and the tensions of everyday life, to concentrate on each other.
It is not a retreat,
nor a marriage clinic, nor group sensitivity. It’s a unique approach aimed
at revitalizing Christian Marriages. It is a time for you and your spouse to
be alone together – to rediscover each other and focus on your relationship for an entire weekend. Every marriage deserves that kind of attention.
Marriage Encounter
teaches a technique of communication designed to promote intimacy. The Marriage
Encounter Weekend allows the space and time away from the interruptions of the modern world to take a fresh look at our values,
priorities, and direction we want our marriage to go. For many couples, “their
Weekend” has been a profound experience and has had a significant effect on their lives.

The Marriage Encounter
Weekend is presented by a trained team consisting of three couples and a priest. Through
a series of presentations given to the group as a whole, we as couples have the opportunity to look at ourselves as individuals,
as couples, and at how we interact with each other. After each of the presentations,
the couples are given a personal reflection time and then time to share their reflections with their spouse in the privacy
of their own room. There are no group discussions on the Weekend. This experience is a private one between husband and wife.
