1988 O'Day 272 LE -- 27-foot sloop
| The galley on Radiance |

|
We purchased Radiance in July 2009. Adam and I sailed her down the outside from Tuckerton, N.J., to
Cape May on Aug. 1, then through the Cape May Canal and across Delaware Bay the next day to her new home port on Cedar Creek
in Slaughter Beach, Del.
While the same size (27 feet overall length) as our previous sailboat, and with a similar layout, a major
point in selecting this boat was her draft of only 2-feet,11-inches with a fixed, winged keel. This allows us to sail the
shallower waters of the Delaware Bay and keep her close to home rather than an hour away on the Chesapeake as we did with
the Airwaves.
Other details: Two-cylinder, 10 hp inboard diesel engine, a Universal M-12. Roller furling, lazy jacks on
main, auto-pilot, dodger, bimini with connecting panel to dodger, wheel steering, all instrumentation in pods right at the
helm. Nicely trimmed interior, berths for 5, galley with alcohol stove and microwave, and a shower in the head.
