Watershed Information
Did you know that the Save the Tygart Watershed is in its 5th year of existence? The Watershed was formally founded on
March 15th, 2001.

Preserving our streams for future generations preserves not only recreation, but life itself. Our main focus at this moment is Three Fork Creek, a major tributary of the river. In the 1940's this used
to be a native trout stream. Our group is working to make it that again. We are begining a clean-up project at Racoon Creek,
which dumps a large amount of acid mine drainage into Three Fork. We hope to receive a grant to begin this important project
soon. We are hopeful that we will continue to receive funding for maintenance of this and other projects.
The one thing our
organization currently desperately needs are active members. We happen to know
there are a lot of avid fishermen in Taylor,
Preston, Mon., & Marion County
who would benefit greatly from clean-up projects, and remember, a lot of us drink this water too! Won’t you help us
clean our waterways? Racoon Creek is a large project that will require a lot of volunteer hours. Don’t you want your
family to be able to enjoy swimming and fishing in their own backyard? If you can spare some time, a little or a lot, please contact the watershed, or better yet, come to our next meeting. Your children and grandchildren
will thank you!
