Camden is a town of apporximately 10,000 people in the midlands
of South Carolina. Camden was founded in 1732 and is the oldest inland town in South Carolina. General Cornwallis
was headquartered here during the Revolution and visitors to the area can visit the Revolutionary War Park in the center
of Camden, tour historic homes, or visit the grounds of the "Battle of Camden". In the 1800, the wealthy equestrian
community began here much as it did in Aiken. Camden has been known for centuries as "horse town". The
horse industry is Camden's largest employer. There are over 2,000 horses, most of them thoroughbreds, that either winter in
Camden or live here full time. Camden has the third oldest continuously active polo field in the United States.
Camden is also home to the Camden Hunt and its over 200 members. Hunt Country in Camden includes appoximately 10,000 acres
of land known as "Hunt Country".

Camden is known as "The steeplechase Capital
of the World" Every spring, the town hosts the famous Carolina Cup
horse meet, followed in the fall by the Colonial Cup, one of the nation's richest steeplechase races. Camden's polo community
hosts the Camden Cup Polo Match as well as many competitions at the Camden Equestrian Center.

The Camden area has a growing arts community with classes in visual
arts, drama, music, and dance in the Arts and Antique District. The down town area is quaint with many interesting businesses
and restaurants and a real small-town lifestyle.
