Congresswoman Eleonor Holmes Norton sponsored another Tax day at the Convention Center in Washington D.C. on February 14. I prepared about a dozen returns ( 1040s) during the day along with dozens of of aother volunteer tax preparers, many from the IRS. In addition, I won a raffle of a Valentine's Day goodies inlcluding basket of chocolat e candy ( given to Barbara of course), a Nationals baseball cap, calulato r, CD covers, a mouse pad, and other cool stuff. But the best benefit was helping the low income prepare their returns at no cost to them! Hey, IRS commissioner Doug Shulman and Eleonor Norton came by for a picture too!

My VITA tax site is in full swing with already over 50 federal ( and 50 more state) returns e-filed to the IRS. But I do have a break on Saturday, February 7.....our USO volunteer date to help out the military!  That is not as taxing!
