Sunday 8:00 am (March through September). Shop led "smell the roses" ride. Pace is slower with
attention given to developing good group riding skills. Duration is usually 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours. Hybrid or road bikes reccommended.
Larger groups will be split into two different groups. Led by Gerry. Depends on weather, call Saturday to verify.
NOTE: At some point toward the end of the season, the 8:00 am ride moves to 9:00 am as long
as there is interest. Call on Saturday to confirm the ride once we start to see frost.
Sunday 9:00 am during daylight savings time. (10:00 am late fall through spring).
Show and go at Trek Stop. This is a fast paced ride with distances usually over 50 miles. The group often breaks up during
the ride as this is usually treated as a training ride. Riders need to know how to get themselves back if they get dropped.
No designated leader.
Tuesday 6:00 pm, (Done for 2007, look for this ride to start back up in the spring) Trek Stop Off-Road
Ride - Meets at Buck Bros. parking lot off of Rivelin St. in Millbury at 5:45pm. Ride lasts from 60-120 minutes depending
on weather, group speed, and pain threshold. This is an intermediate ride designed to be a hard workout for most. Led by Vinnie.
Call Vinnie for directions. (774) 276-1513.
Wednesday 5:15pm, Kenny's weekly road training ride. Call Wednesday morning after
10am to see what Kenny has planned. (508) 839-9199. This ride rolls out of the lot at 5:30 pm sharp after a few minutes
of instruction. This is a hard core fast training ride. Average speed will be in excess of 18mph regardless of terrain. If
you get dropped, you will need to find your own way back to the shop. Riders are encouraged to really push themselves. Experienced
riders are expected to take hard pulls and teach the more novice riders how to ride fast in a paceline, how to peal off, and
how to set pace for teammates. Novice riders are expected to work hard at staying with the group and not fracture the paceline.
Thursday 9:00 am, Dave's informal rotating ride. It's 2+ hours of
riding and a stop for food somewhere in the middle. You're usually back to the shop
by 1pm. Call Dave Baumgartner here at the shop (508) 839-9199 for details.
Where to Ride Off-Road
Trek Stop believes in treading lightly. Please ride responsibly. The following links show some of the many
local areas where off road cycling is encouraged and permitted.
What Roads To Ride
Most roads in central MA provide great road rides. At Trek Stop we carry the full line of Rubel Bike Maps
specifically designed for the bicycle tourist. If you don't want to plan your own routes, we have the Short Bike Rides books
written and autographed by our own Howard Stone. They feature spectacular road rides around Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
