Maugansville Baptist Church is a conservative (not necessarily traditional) culturally relevant GREAT COMMISSION Southern Baptist Church who follows Protestant essentials and Baptist distinctives. Although there are several important functional areas in our Church such as the ones list below, Great Commission Focused Evangelism is our priority as we strive to advance the Kingdom of God.

Our church has:

  • Great Commissioned Focused Evangelism,
  • God Focused Worship
  • Grace Focused Discipleship,
  • Christ Focused Fellowship,
  • Spiritual Gift Focused Ministry,
  • Kingdom Connected Missions.

We believe the bible is true and without error (infallibility and inerrancy). This means that what the authors willed to convey with regard to matters of faith (doctrine), practice (ethics), matters of fact (history, geography, science, etc.)  was inspired by the Holy Spirit and are true. The Holy Bible will never lead us astray.  We believe that the authority of Scripture is extremely important in this and every age. Those who profess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are called to humbly and faithfully obeying the scriptures "God's written Word". To stray from Scripture in faith, conduct, lifestyle and corporate or individual Worship shows very little respect and authentic belief. We believe that recognition of the total truth and trustworthiness of Holy Scripture in every thing we do is an adequate confession of its authority. Centering our life on what God reveals in his word is echoing all that he intends us to be. In effect we believe that his word sets us free from our own miserable life and respectfully gives him the Glory which is well deserved.

Worship to us is not liturgical and is far different from entertainment (John Frame, Worship in Spirit and Truth, p, 1). Our "Worship Service"  is both in adoration of what God has filled us with from his word and an expression of our joyful Christian lifestyle.

When it comes to music in our worship service at Maugansville Baptist we strive to make it comfortable to all. Even though we together as the body in Christ LOVE the gift of music, music at our church according to scripture is not considered something that God requires. It is added to our corporate worship in an attempt to glorify him through the very same lovely, precious, worthy and costly gifts he gave us as a treasure. As much as we like hearing music played durung our worship service the greatest request of God when we are together is to love him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strenght. For that reason it is Christ in the heart of our Church family in worship to God that is extremely important to us.

  • Martin Luther's view on worship was that we may do anything in worship except what Gods Scripture forbids.
  • John Calvin felt that we may only do what Gods Scripture commands in worship.
  • My suggestion is to include inspirational scripture and Christ in all forms of worship whether it be individual, corporate or musical praise in worship.

"It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools." Ecclesiasted 7:5

Five factors are important to remember about Worship at Maugansville Baptist church:

  1. May our worship be God, Gospel and trinitarian centered. And may the worship be both vertical (towards God) and horizontal (towards others) in direction.
  2. May we do our best to make it culturally and scripturally relevant without destroying our christian fellowship with each other and the LORD.(sing to God the Body and the non-believer)  "My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God, my Savior." Luke 1:46-47.
  3. We should realize that God continually "seeks" (John 4:23) those who will worship him in the spiritual realm and therefore those whose spirit as well as all of their heart, soul and mind is worshiping God.
  4. May we never worship Music over the Worship of the LORD "You shall have no other gods before me."
  5. The Pastor knows how to Rock better than most having grown up through the 60's, 70' and heavy metal 80's but he also knows God's inspirational word and how to Worship the LORD in peace, love and quiet devotion.

Come visit us as we join together as one body bring God all the Glory.
