Meet the pastor and family

Here we will tell the story of the beginnings of our church and how we became what we are today.

Around the close of the year 2000 a group of members from First Baptist Church Hagerstown Md began planning for a new church start. Meetings were held at the Virginia Baptist Church close to Williamsport Md. Mission, belief and vision statements were prepared.

Mission Statement:
Maugansville Baptist Church a family of baptized believers seek to lead the unchurched and lost to the saving grace of Jesus Christ through worship by applying Biblical pronciples that glorify God.

Name Change:
It was around December 2000 through January 2001 the original name from Unity Fellowship Church had been offically changed to Maugansville Baptist Church. There were several reasons for this change. First there is a denomination called Unity. The values of this denomination are not what they wished to convey in the name of their church so a new name was necessary. Second since it was dicided to establish this new chruch in the Maugansville area that was a natural part of the name.

Good News:
On Sunday January 21, 2001 the Maugansville Baptist Church held its first meeting at the Maugansville Fire Department. Even with the snowstorm there were 29 in attendance. Rev. Chuck Schroer gave the sermon and the guitar of Rev. Dave Burt of the Blue Ridge Baptist Association provided special music. Carol Walchauser watched over several preschoolers during the service. They planned to have a regular scheduled church service in the Maugansville area (either the Fire Hall or the Ruritan club) from 10:00am to 11:30am. Begining in March they planned to start Sunday School classes for all ages with at least one class for Preschool ("K" and younger), Children Youth and Adult. Once Sunday School starts the times of both it and Church service would be announced.
