Meet the pastor and family

Pastor Scott lives to deliver Expository messages. Throughout the year you will find Pastor Scott preaching completely through an entire Book of the bible with conviction only to stop less frequently here and there with a topical message that fits into his engaging exposition of the particular book of study. He admires the preaching works of Haddon W. Robinson, Hershael W. York, Bert Decker and Bryan Chapell. He doesn't favor topical sermons although he believes one can be saved when one hears such matter but believes whole heartedly that the "STEAK" of the bible can only be taught through expository sermons.

I do agree with the Statement of faith at Maugansville Baptist Church in its constitution because it represents the essentials and distinctives of Christian faith, the Great Commision imperative and what it means to be a Southern Baptist. Secondly I want to add that I currently hold without reservations to the doctrinal commitments of the Abstract of Principles (1859) and the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) as accurately representing biblical truth. The understanding of the nature of Scripture is summarized in these confessional documents and in the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy (1978) which I also agree with. Please also understand as much as I might sound like a fundamentalist (And maybe a little funny and mental at times) who I believe I am more than most, the knowledge of biblical doctrine as I understand is not a prerequisite for salvation. Only the belief and acceptance of Jesus as Lord and savoir is. Some of the most conservative members of the SBC say “never make a minor doctrine a major dispute”. This I hold to dearly just below YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR.

Reverend Scott is the dressed up get down senior pastor of the church seen above with his family. Pastor Scott comes to our church with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Adm. and 20 years of experience in the business world as well as business ownership. He is just finishing up his Masters of Divinity, MDiv. (Pastoral Concentration) in the School of Theology at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Louisville, Kentucky. Additional studies have been completed in Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism and Church Growth as well as Reformational Church History in the School of Theology.

Here is a picture of Reverend Scott Johnston in his natural habitat. Scott became the pastor of our church in the spring of 2007. His dedication to his faith and to the church is a strength that we all benefit from when we view things with significance says "He". Scott is married and has two wonderful sons.

Michele Johnston is pastor Scott's wife. She is in charge of all the who does what around the house, which includes who takes a break from time to time. Michele loves her family and runs a full time cleaning business between all the other odds and ends she takes care of including Scott.
