History
The farm was established in 1864 by a gentleman when he returned from his service in the Civil War.
The locals still refer to house as "The Gaul Farm" and speak about John Gaul as "The Colonel"
John Gaul served as the Sheriff in Marienville in the late 1800's.
His gravesite is located just a bit north of the house and the VFW Veterans tend to it.
The "Colonel" and his son James, built the farm house in 1895. James raised his 8 children here.
The farm remained in the Gaul Family from 1864 to 2003.
We have located the "Sawmill" corner stones along the creek at the end of the logging road. There is so
much history to exprience here. I have truly gained a new family.
I acquired the farm to maintain it as a Family Estate. Not for development, but for recreation
and enjoyment to visitors.
